100% Mondeuse. Peillot has three hectares of this rustic Bugey variety, which is a relative of Syrah and Dureza. Many of the vines were planted in the early 2000's on the steep, rocky, clay-limestone scree of the village and cru of Montagnieu but some are up to 100 years old. The farming is organic and the harvest by hand. The fruit is destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts in steel tank, with no extractive techniques and a week-long maceration. The wine is aged in tank.
