100% Zinfandel from the limestone and granite-rich Gimelli Vineyard in the Cienega Valley of San Benito. Planted in 1908, Gimelli is part of what was once known as the El Gabilan Vineyard, and neighbor to the late Josh Jensen’s Mount Harlan. At roughly 1000’ elevation, the confluence of these calcareous soils, the cooling marine influence of nearby Monterey Bay, and 114 year-old dry-farmed vines conspire to produce exceptional Zinfandel. The fruit was hand-harvested at night, fully destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts before a 10-month maturation in neutral oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
