ID: 17845392283699488 Massimilianos Crocis low and slow approach to sparkling is rare: the first and completely spontaneous fermentation slows down as winter approaches and eventually stops, picking back up again as spring warms up the partly fermented wines. He starts that process in cement and steel tanks, bottles the wines and allows the fermentation to continue and finish in the bottle slowly over what ends up being about a year but varies certainly. Sulfur usage is scant at most. Our friends @martinbrotherswine are showing all kinds of love for @QuintadoInfantado which was the first estate to exclusively bottle estate- grown wines in the '70s, when they weren't even legally allowed to sell their wines outside of Portugal! Their "A" rated vineyard holdings, of steep, terraced, old vine parcels of mixed plantings of local varieties, could be used to bottle vintage port exclusively, but those terrific grapes go into every bottle they make, making the "simple" tawny and ruby ports some of the best values to be found.5 years 8 months ago -

Pioneering, low intervention winemakers Alwin Jurtschitsch and his wife Stefanie Hasselbach have been transforming his family estate since 2009. Dating back to the 16th century, Weingut Jurtschitsch is the oldest winemaking estate in Kamptal. From vines in Gfhler Gneiss soil. Whole grapes fermented on the skins and then stored on the lees in neutral 600l oak barrels for a couple of months. Unfined, unfiltered. _ Cherry pink in colour with aromas of strawberry, lemon, slate minerality and hibiscus. Vivid wild strawberry, cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, lemon and mandarin orange are framed by tangy acidity and clean minerality. Im so glad I took this pic @bowlerwine tasting few weeks ago, it just popped into my mind reminding me of this strikingly beautiful Galician Albario by Pedralonga which means big rock in Gallego and refers to the huge granitic chunks sticking out of the soil. Vendetta bottling contains juice from the oldest ungrafted blocks of low yielding vines planted on steep terraces close to Atlantic Ocean, a small production made only in best vintages. Its one of those wines the very moment you put your nose to, you know its special:) and everything that unfolds after that moment is strangely familiar yet it takes you by surprise and moves you to the core... so very often while tasting new wines I find myself secretly hoping for that very feeling, yet it cant be willed which is what makes it perfect when it does happen:) Its like a perfect symphony with all the notes in harmony adding and playing off and to one-another. Lush yet precise with deep saline and mineral resonance, electric acidity that cuts through ripe golden fruit and opulent body effortlessly.
