ID: 17856500377555512 Thanks @marinvino for the great wine note! _______________________________ Oltretorrente or beyond the stream is a small wine project run by wife and husband team Chiara and Michele set in the hills of Tortona or Colli Tortonesi, south east Piedmont. Golden colored grape called Timorasso almost went extinct not so long ago if it wasnt for a handful of dedicated growers (Walter Massa, La Colombera..) who recognized the nobility of this heirloom variety. This bottling is a cuve of two north facing vineyards planted in silty calcareous soil at 300m elevation, fermented in concrete vats and aged on fine lees for 9 months. It shows nice balance and texture with a bit of spice and nutty quality complemented by preserved orange fruit, mineral tension and acidity. More structured then most northern Italian whites this one is a great food wine with anything from seafood to richer pasta or Middle Eastern dishes. Paul Masson and Martin Ray single handedly shaped winemaking in the US. Ok well maybe not singlehandedly but theyre definitely pioneers. We somehow find ourselves lucky enough to have a few cases of the 2015 Domaine Eden Cabernet and the 2015 Mount Eden Chardonnay. These are both golden gems of the California sun, and they are not to be missed (but theres not much so hurry or you might miss it). Either way heres a poem inspired by the Mount Eden Vineyards.
