ID: 17844770149351099 Clusters of Grillo by Marco de Bartoli comes from Samperi in the province of Marsala, north-west edge of Sicilia. Grillo grape quite possibly dates back to Phoenician era but is usually associated with Marsala cooking wine...however Marcos first white wine project started in 90 proved what a complex and elegant wine it can be! Lovely gold color with aromas of Mediterranean garique (sage, marjoram) lemon zest confit, ripe melon with fantastic minerality and brine. There is a note of bruised apple and creaminess with faint whiff of swept barnyard and iodine reminiscent of a white Hermitage!? The iron-rich red clay soil is apparent upon tasting, along with notes of wild raspberries, heirloom carrots and rosemary on the nose.
