"The 2023 Listán Negro from Los Bermejos is aged for five months in French oak casks by Ignacio Valderas prior to bottling, with an eye towards making a more structured wine. The 2023 version comes in at an even thirteen percent alcohol in this vintage and delivers a youthfully complex aromatic constellation of dark berries, cassis, chicory, a fine base of black volcanic soil, just a touch of Listán Negro sweet botanicals and a topnote of cigar wrapper. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and structured, with a superb core of fruit, excellent mineral drive and grip, firm, buried tannins and excellent balance on the complex and nicely precise finish. All this excellent example of Listán Negro needs is some time in the cellar to soften up its undercarriage of tannin. Fine juice. 2036-2065+. "
