Barolo Gramolere
Italy
Piedmont
2021

The cru of Gramolere, located in Monforte d'Alba, is Fratelli Alessandria's lone plot outside of Verduno. They own 2ha here. The soils are much sandier than Verduno, the site is higher, at 450-470m. The vines are 60 years old. Harvest was a bit later, October 14th. Macerations 30 days. The wine is made exactly as the other two single-cru wines. First made in 2001. 7,000 bottles made.
"Fratelli Alessandria 2021 Barolo Gramolere...shows a little more structure and power with tightly knit fruit, dark plum, ferrous earth and licorice. This vineyard comes to family ownership via the matriarch, Flavia Manzone, who was born in this village. Polished tannins push a smooth-sailing mouthfeel." -Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate, June 2025
