"The 2023 Rioja “Nahikun” from Sandra Bravo’s Sierra de Toloño is made from a field blend of tempranillo, graciano, garnacha and mazuelo, with the wine fermented in three hundred liter clay amphorae and then raised in a combination of older oak casks and amphorae. The wine comes in at 13.5 percent alcohol in this vintage and offers up a deep and complex bouquet of dark berries, cigar wrapper, chalky soil tones, incipient notes of Rioja spices, woodsmoke and a deft framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and ripely tannic, with an excellent core of fruit, good soil undertow and grip, ripe tannins and fine length on the well balanced and nascently complex finish. All this lovely wine needs is some time in the cellar to soften up properly. 2033-2065+"
