Pinot Noir Faite De Mer Farm 'Radiolaria'

United States
California
2021

At three miles from the Pacific Ocean, this site is the most westward vineyard in Mendocino County and the coolest in the Drew portfolio. The blocks selected for the Radiolaria are primarily composed from the Zeni soil series, which is a lighter sandstone soil along with the Yellowhound rockier soils.  These sandy and rocky soils contain Franciscan chert and quartz which are formed from ancient deep sea plankton called Radiolaria that dropped onto the sea floor over 40 million of years ago. These lighter soils are expressed with brighter red fruits along with savory forest and mineral tones interwoven with wild flowers, fir tips and savory mushrooms. A very distinctive terroir driven, gorgeous coastal Pinot Noir.
