") The 2021 Saumur Blanc from Château Fouquet is from their vineyards in the village of Brézé, which is pretty good chenin blanc territory for those familiar with the wines from Clos Rougeard! These vines were only planted in 2014, but are farmed biodynamically and the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts. Half the cuvée is raised in stainless steel and the other half in older barrels. The 2021 version is lovely, offering a deep and youthful bouquet of quince, tart orange, lanolin, chalky soil tones and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, fullbodied and nicely tensile in personality, with a lovely core and soil signature, snappy acids, excellent focus and a long, well-balanced and complex finish. Though 2021 is a cool vintage, this wine comes in nicely ripe at fourteen percent octane and has plenty of mid-palate stuffing. Good juice that will only get better with a bit of bottle age. 2023-2040. "
