Will Bucklin’s Compagni-Portis White is a new Gewürztraminer-based field blend from a Sonoma site with deep California history. The vineyard sits in the heart of Sonoma Township on the original estate of wine pioneer Agoston Haraszthy. Compagni-Portis is a 70-year-old, dry-farmed vineyard planted as a field blend of Gewürztraminer, Trousseau Gris, and Riesling, with Gewürztraminer comprising approximately 90% of the block. The vineyard is farmed organically, with no herbicides or pesticides used aside from elemental sulfur for powdery mildew. The fruit was pressed and fermented in neutral French oak before aging on the lees for six months until bottling.
