"From the youngest part of the Zieregg, which was planted for the very first time in 2006 on one of the most clay-rich parcels in all Austria (on a plateau at 490 meters above sea level), the 2022 Ried Zieregg Kapelle GSTK is intense and generous yet also refined on the nose that reveals blackcurrant and leafy aromas intermingled with woodruff, salt and acorn notes. Aged in 500- and 700-liter barrels for one year and another one and a half to two years on the fine lees, this is a full-bodied, saline and savory, very refreshing and rather greenish-tasting Sauvignon with lime notes and bitters on the very long and saline finish that reveals fine oak aromas and tannins. This is quite a Burgundian Sauvignon from 16-year-old vines. "
