Producers from Chablis

Although technically part of Burgundy, the climate and soils in Chablis are quite different from the Côte d'Or (Burgundy's main region). Much cooler because of its northerly location, it is white wine, specifically chardonnay, that dominates the region's wine production. The soils are rich in limestone and the best wines have a minerality that distinguishes them from chardonnays produced anywhere else in the world. They can see new oak or no oak at all-a decision that each winery makes depending on the style of wine that they wish to make. The seven grand cru are: Blanchot, Les Clos, Valmur, Grenouilles, Vaudesir, Les Preuses, and Bougros.
