Cabernet Franc (ungrafted) from an organically farmed parcel of Red Willow Vineyard—a high-elevation site in the Yakima Valley, planted on an east-facing slope with sandy loam soils. The fruit was fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in 100% Japanese Mizunara oak barrels (50% new, 50% once-used). Kobayashi is the only winery in the U.S. importing these barrels. The lightly toasted Mizunara adds aromas of cedar and incense to the herbal, mint, and violet qualities of Cabernet Franc. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
