Champagne Meunier 'Parcelle AB390' Extra Brut

France
Champagne
2016

The Parcelle AB390 is from a special site just next to the winery in Ludes. It's 100% Meunier that was planted in the 1950's. It's now farmed organically. 2016 was the first year it was bottled as a single-vineyard. It's always been a special parcel for the family as it sits just next to the winery and family home. The soil has some clay on the topsoil and then pure chalk that you can see beautifully in the cellar.

"This toasty Champagne layers sleek, mouthwatering acidity with raw silk–like texture and a range of black currant and blackberry fruit, roasted hazelnut and brioche, almond blossom and lemon thyme notes. The lasting finish echoes notes of spices and mineral. "

"The 2016 Ployez-Jacquemart “Meunier Parcelle AB390” takes its name from the plot of vines that lie right next to the maison in the village of Ludes. The vines are old, having been planted in the 1950s, and now farmed organically. The 2016 version is the first vintage that they have been used for a unique cuvée. The wine was disgorged in April of 2021. The bouquet is deep and refined, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, white peach, beautiful meunier floral tones, brioche and a beautiful base of chalky soil. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with superb mineral undertow and grip, elegant mousse and lovely complexity on the long, zesty and seamlessly balanced finish. This is simply outstanding wine"
