Chardonnay Lolonis Vineyard

Located in Mendocino's Redwood Valley, the Lolonis Vineyard's old-vine Chardonnay planting is among the oldest surviving Chardonnay vineyards in the United States. Planted in the winter of 1946–47, this three-acre block produces exceptionally concentrated, vibrant fruit. It has been farmed organically since its inception and is dry-farmed.
In 2024, just over half a ton of fruit was harvested from the entire block, yielding a single barrel for the vintage. The fruit was whole-cluster pressed, settled, and fermented with native yeasts in a combination of stainless steel and French oak. As primary fermentation began to slow, the wine was consolidated into a single Damy barrel to minimize headspace and oxygen exposure. After several months in oak, it was transferred back to stainless steel for the remainder of élevage.
