The Del Barba family has been farming these Mourvèdre vines in Contra Costa County since planting the vineyard in the early 1920s. The own-rooted, tree-like vines grow in Delhi sand, a decomposed granite soil deposited over time by wind and water. The Delta experiences hot days and little rainfall, but the vines' roots extend more than 40 feet below the surface to reach the water table, allowing them to be dry-farmed. Afternoon winds cool the vineyard during the hottest part of the day, much like the Mistral winds of Mourvèdre's native Southern France.

The fruit was fermented 10% whole cluster in open top fermenters, with 16 days of maceration and aged for 11 months in neutral French oak barrels on fine lees. The cranberry fruit and thyme-oregano garrigue notes are balanced with the light tannins to produce an easy, early drinking wine with depth and substance.
