Fixin "les Crais"

France
Burgundy
2024

An emblematic parcel for the domaine, bottled separately for a long time because of its inherent quality. This is from a 1.38-hectare parcel with stony and chalky soil and an alluvial sub-soil, planted in 1946, 1960, 1988 and and again in 2002. Aged in barrel for 15 months (approximately 20% new). 15% whole cluster.

"The 2024 Fixin Les Crais includes 40% whole cluster this year. This is quite lifted on the nose, the stems imparting a subtle "coolness," a light marine/briny scent that is tucked behind the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity, quite peppery due to the stem influence, though it is proportional to the level of fruit. Good length; this is a well-crafted Fixin that should age well in bottle."
