Situated at the start of the Côte des Forges, at the foot of La Roche-aux-Moines, the "Clos des Ruchères" sits on a hillside composed of rare purple schists within the appellation. The vineyard is covered by a very thin soil layer, approximately twenty centimeters deep. The slate schists, deeply fractured and highly friable, weather into clays with a silky texture.
