Sorgente, a 1.5-hectare cru at 450m facing SW, previously made Salicutti’s Rosso di Montalcino.  The water table is closer to the surface here, hence the name, meaning “source.”  As the vines have gotten older and more expressive,  it is now elevated to Brunello stature.  The heavier clay topsoil and stony galestro mother rock here lead to a later harvest.  Yields 17hl/ha. Fermentation in concrete with 35-day macerations.  Aged for 41 months 3000L Mittelberger casks. 3748 bottles, 120 magnums, and 3 jeroboams made.
