Pinot Noir Bishop Creek

Nestled in the hills of the Yamhill-Carlton appellation, Nicolas-Jay’s Bishop Creek Vineyard spans 13.5 acres, 11 planted to Pinot Noir. The majority of the vines were planted between 1988 and 1990 and are own-rooted. Elevations range from 270 to 600 feet, with predominantly North–South plantings on Willakenzie series marine sedimentary soils, adding to the site’s diversity. Since Domaine Nicolas-Jay acquired the vineyard in 2014, all farming has been organic. Bishop Creek yields small, thick-skinned berries that contribute to a distinctly textured and age-worthy Pinot Noir. The wine was fermented with native yeasts, matured for 15 months in French oak (50% new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
