From a one-hectare clos. The vines were planted at the end of the first World War and this is considered to be one of the best terroirs for Gewurztraminer in Alsace. The plot faces south/southeast with chalky, marl soils on a bedrock of sandstone and quartzite. 5/9 on the sweetness scale.

236 day skin-contact Gewurztraminer from Sunnyside Vineyard in the Willamette Valley AVA (soon to be South Salem Hills AVA, pending approval). The vines were planted in 1984 at 700 feet elevation in rocky, volcanic (Jory) soils. Fermented in concrete egg and aged in old oak.
