The flagship of the estate.  Its first vintage was 2002 and it was the only wine produced until 2006.  It comes from the parcels around the cellar in Roccatederighi, at 500-600m. Though Cabernet Franc has always been its guiding force, it became 100% Cabernet Franc with the 2015 vintage.  0-20% whole clusters, macerations 20-30 days, depending on vintage. Aged one year in concrete.  Bottle-aged for at least two years before release.

"Earthy notes dominate this wine, with leather, cocoa, dried eucalyptus leaves and restrained bramble fruit. Dense palate with a full body, velvety extracted tannins, intense fruit definition, black olives savoriness, crisp acidity and a muscular finish. "

"The 2021 Ampeleia, 100% Cabernet Franc, is gorgeous. Rich, deep and seductive, the 2021 offers notable textural depth married to the more savory, mineral style favored here. Vineyards at 500-600 meters in elevation help confer freshness that is further amplified by the use of whole clusters. Lavender, mocha, plum, blackberry and gravel are some of the many notes that open over time. What a gorgeous wine this is."
