"It is easy to feel the grand cru richness and depth in this delicious wine, yet there is also enough freshness to create superb balance and elegance. There are aromas of ripe pear and nectarine, a distinct floral note and a hint of reduction. The rich texture and crisp acidity carry this to a marvellously long finish. The grapes were lightly crushed and gently pressed before fermentation with most of the lees in a single 456L barrel from François Frères. Although it is undeniably delicious now, waiting at least five years would help it open more fully."

"A classy pale lemon colour. The bouquet is exceptionally suave. A Bienvenues of great finesse, picked at the right moment. Then surprisingly backward, indeed unformed on the palate. Fine mid-range concentration for this plot, with a steely core underneath the velvet, and fine length Drink from 2030-2038."

"The 2023 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is comprised of one (new) 456-liter barrel this year. Naturally, that wood will shape the nose in its youth, though there is plenty of fruit concentration behind it, with hints of lemon curd and frangipani loitering in the background. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity. There's plenty of freshness here. It's not as powerful as the 2022, but there is a long tail on the nutty, slightly smoky finish. This is very fine."
